Job Description

The Engagement Assistant Director role at NIAA involves driving engagement efforts with First Nations communities in Tasmania to support self-determination aspirations and government priorities.

Responsibilities

Work directly with First Nations communities in Tasmania to identify priorities and support self-determination aspirations
Build and maintain strong partnerships with stakeholders across government, First Nations communities, and the private sector
Manage a small team, prioritize workload, and mentor staff
Provide strategic policy and program advice and prepare high-quality briefings
Support the delivery of NIAA funded activities in Tasmania
Create a culturally safe workplace

Qualifications

Experience working with First Nations people in a culturally sensitive manner
Strong engagement and stakeholder management skills
Analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
Leadership, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal skills
Experience in managing teams and strategic delivery of programs
Understanding of issues affecting First Nations communities in Tasmania
